Fallin for Melbourne
We don't know what time it is - or even what day it is - but it's definitely SUMMER here in Melbourne! We arrived earlier today, jet-lagged and disoriented, but it didn't take long for us to fall for this fabulous city in this amazing country! We spent this evening walking and eating our way through the city's riverside center - which is filled with people from all over the world! We can't wait to explore it more in the coming days. Tomorrow is our one and only adventure day before we begin the (7 day) work of the Parliament (www.parliamentofreligions.org). We'll spend tomorrow exploring a regional highlight: Great Ocean Road. We'll tell you all about it when we have computer access again. Thinking of all of you back home!!

Lynne and Mike,
ReplyDeleteI too am moved to tears as I imagine the two of you, together, on the other side of the world, at a conference that is such an important part of our global journey to world peace. I am moved to think about the ways you've both been led to this experience, and the special gifts and presence you will bring to the conversations.
You truly are lights in the world!
I'll be eager to experience the conference with you from afar!
Love,
Mom
Karen here, not Sarah. It's so good to hear from you! Sounds like an amazing experience already and you haven't even begun the conference. I am really happy to hear about how the flight went...I know that's been a source of stress for a long time.
ReplyDeleteI'm not exactly sure what's happening next door. There's loud music blasting from there day and night, lots of strange people in and out at all hours, occasionally a chair comes flying through a window. I didn't realize you let Jonah and Kateri drink beer. I guess we're a little more conservative than you. The school called and asked if Jonah and Kateri were sick because they haven't been to school since last Friday. I told them I'd look into it. The sign out in front of the high school that says "Two Week Party at Bouchers" might have something to do with it. All is well. At least they're having fun!
I'm so glad to get the update. Keep soaking it all in...sounds amazing. I love you both!
Excited for you two! Can't wait to see the pics!
ReplyDeleteSoak up that Aussie summer (we just got our first slushy snow)! Weeeeeeeeeeee!
Enjoy!
Love, T
Oooh...I hope you're going to see Jimmy Carter tomorrow! Can't wait to hear who you get to experience!!
ReplyDeleteSoak it all up!
Sue
Sue!! How did you know about Jimmy Carter?! YOU KNOW EVERYTHING!!!! I showed up for his session this morning, and saw that the leaders seemed to be having technical difficulties. Finally they explained that Jimmy Carter was supposed to be part of the workshop by teleconference, but the equipment wasn't working at the moment. They are hoping to beam him in later in the week. I'll let cha know!! How did you know about that?!
ReplyDeleteYou sent me the link to the conference, so of course I had to check it out!! I just love Pres. Carter and his topic was great! I hope you get to see him later. Thanks for all the updates.
